About Myself.

My name is Reyhaneh Ghavipanjeh (Rihana SG) originally from Babol which is located in the northern part of Iran. I studied graphic design and worked as graphic designer but my hobby has always been painting with which I started as a child. Between 2007 and 2013 I lived in Malaysia where I learned a lot about Asian art of which features I mix with my Middle East's style. This can be visible in most of my paintings.  In 2013 I moved to Europe and currently I am living in Czech Republic (Prague) and Slovakia.

My art is mostly about women and myself. I portray happiness, purity, sorrow, pain or gender inequality. All feelings or experiences that Middle East women go through in their lives. Colours of my paintings are shiny and bright which expresses our culture or environment - sun, relatives, friendship, sea and forest. I come from the country with four seasons, different ethnic cultures, traditions or nature.

Portraits that I paint have long necks where all their words or emotions they want to express are concentrated or blocked. You can see that women's eyes are mostly closed as they are afraid to look into eyes of people who surround them. There are also different symbols such as fish (purity), pomegranate (heaven), birds (soul and love).

With my paintings I address what is often being ignored. Moreover, I believe than any woman from any country can find a little bit of herself in my art.

Yours,

Rihana SG
